The Student Committee on Popular Entertainment’s mission and purpose is to promote live, nationally recognized entertainment to the University of New Hampshire. The programming involved, which includes concerts, comedy shows, and other entertainment productions, will be offered to students at a rate less than that offered to the general public if charges apply. SCOPE will attempt to select genres of performances that will appeal to the largest cross-section of the student body, subject to availability of the artists and/or venues. When possible, SCOPE will include the opinion of the campus at large and the guidance of our promoter in deciding on specific artists. The Student Committee on Popular Entertainment is entirely student run. SCOPE not only provides entertainment, but additionally a unique educational experience for those who participate. Students manage all facets of running a professional organization, as well as all aspects of producing a professional performance.
SCOPE is an entirely student run concert committee – one of a few left in the country. Our brand, the SCOPE name, has allowed us to gain a positive reputation we have in the industry and something that needs to be preserved if the organization will continue to be successful. We have always been successful planning programming without an administrator calling the shots, something that could be detrimental to the quality of the production & relevance of the acts that are brought.
This organization has been committed for over 40 years to delivering entertainment to the students at a significantly lower rate than competitors. We are students working for students, and volunteer our personal time to unite the diverse student body through our memorable programming. We aim to provide our peers with enjoyable experiences while engaging together as a community. We believe in creating a strong campus environment for the students and ensuring their opinion is our first priority.
The organization has done amazing things for the UNH community and has also contributed to the career success of several SCOPE members. The hands on factor of SCOPE allows for real world experience for whatever our students want to do or become. Our members our engaged in a well-rounded program which develops them into strong leaders and business professionals in a variety of different industries.
